"It's already in the past," Sinner wants to move on after his Wimbledon triumph
Jannik Sinner is set to make his highly anticipated return to competition at the Cincinnati Masters 1000. The Italian hasn’t played a single official match since his Wimbledon victory over his great rival Carlos Alcaraz (4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4).
After withdrawing from Toronto, Sinner will face Daniel Galan or Vit Kopriva in the second round in Ohio and hopes to build momentum, as he is the defending champion of both this tournament and the US Open. In any case, Sinner already seems eager to turn the page after his triumph in the English capital.
"Winning Wimbledon was an incredible journey for me, especially after what happened in previous tournaments. I tried to understand—not what I had done 'wrong' before, but rather what I could improve.
And this time, I finally succeeded, so I’m very happy. But on the other hand, it was amazing to have my family there, my brother, the people I truly love, whom I saw again after the tournament.
The atmosphere was so special. But you know, it’s already in the past. We’re here in Cincinnati now. We’ve tried to prepare well. The conditions are very tough for us players.
Here and in New York, it’s going to be very important for me, and I hope it’ll be a good American swing," assured Sinner, the world No. 1, in an interview with *L'Équipe* in recent hours.
