"It's always hard to see the positives right after," regrets Parry after her third-round exit at Wimbledon

Diane Parry's journey at the 2025 Wimbledon Championships ended in the third round. The 22-year-old Frenchwoman had started strong against Sonay Kartal, even leading 4-1 in the first set.
But the British player fought back brilliantly and secured a straight-sets victory in front of her home crowd (6-4, 6-2). Disappointed, the Nice native reflected on her defeat in the press conference, regretting how the match slipped away from her without her being able to respond effectively.
"I felt like she grew into the match more and more. My game wasn’t hurting her as much, there were some long, physical rallies, and losing my serve was tough.
"After that, it was just a bad sequence—she raised her level significantly while mine dropped at the same time. That made a big difference in the end. I was feeling pretty good, but toward the end of the first set, I could feel it getting harder with all the long points piling up.
"She’s quite physical. I just couldn’t find a way to get back into it, to hurt her again and regain the advantage. In the heat of the moment, it’s always hard to see the positives—you just focus on what you didn’t do well and what you could’ve done better to win.
"What I take away is that it’s always positive to string together wins and beat good players. I’ll try to build on that and keep the momentum going in the coming weeks. But that’s something I’ll think about in the next few days," she told *L'Équipe*.
