Why do they always insist on me being sad?" Osaka complains about media treatment after Wimbledon exit

Despite two convincing opening rounds, Naomi Osaka fell short of reaching the last 16 at Wimbledon, losing in three sets (3-6, 6-4, 6-4) to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.
The Japanese player, coached by Patrick Mouratoglou, has yet to reach the second week of a Grand Slam this year. On her Threads account, Osaka expressed frustration with the media coverage she faces after every high-profile defeat:
"Why is it that every time I do a press conference after a loss, ESPN and blogs make clips of it and post them online? Why don’t they make clips of my press conferences after wins? Why do they always insist on me being sad? [...]
Of course, a few hours ago, I was disappointed. But I’m motivated to do better. These are human emotions. The way they clip me makes it feel like I should pretend to be happy all the time.
