"It's weird, I think I'll talk to him about it at practice," Osaka responds to Mouratoglou's comments on women's tennis

Present in London to compete in the year's third Grand Slam, Naomi Osaka was asked about several topics related to current events in women's tennis. After her coach, Mouratoglou, made controversial remarks about the lack of stars among female players, the Japanese athlete was prompted to react:
"Oh no, I didn’t hear what he said. This is totally off-topic, but sometimes when I’m scrolling through Instagram, he pops up, and I’m like, oh wow. And then I just keep scrolling. What I mean is, I’m probably the player who really doesn’t pay attention to anything. Things that happen during tournaments, for example, are usually told to me by someone on my team.
Still, regarding what he said, I didn’t know Roland-Garros wasn’t scheduling women’s matches. But didn’t I play against Iga (Swiatek) in the evening? Oh, was it in the afternoon or something? Anyway, I think women’s tennis has plenty of big names or stars. It’s weird—I think I’ll bring it up with him at practice today. I’ll let you know what he thinks."
At Wimbledon, she will begin her first-round match this Monday against Australian qualifier Gibson. The match is scheduled last on Court No. 18.
