I’ve always felt it was an easy transition," Keys eager to return to grass
After winning the Australian Open in January and reaching the quarterfinals at Roland Garros, Madison Keys is heading into the grass season with big ambitions.
The American, ranked No. 8 in the world, will begin her Wimbledon preparations next week at the WTA 500 Queen’s Club, where she is the No. 2 seed.
During her press conference after her Roland Garros exit, Keys shared what she loves most about grass:
"Of course, it’s a surface that rewards players with bigger serves and harder hitters. From the start, I’ve always gotten free points on it. I also feel comfortable with the movement. Some take time to adjust to grass because you have to take bigger steps.
I’ve always felt it was an easy transition (from clay). From the moment I hit my first balls on this surface, I knew I was going to enjoy it every time.
