"I've always worked until exhaustion, but I understand that won't happen anymore," says Kostyuk

I've always worked until exhaustion, but I understand that won't happen anymore, says Kostyuk

Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk, ranked in the world's top 30, has expressed her desire to enjoy herself on court until the end of her career.

World No. 28 Kostyuk will not play again this season. Following her first-round defeat at the WTA 1000 in Wuhan against Karolina Muchova last week, the Ukrainian - who notably reached the quarterfinals at the WTA 1000 tournaments in Doha, Madrid, and Montreal this season - now prefers to rest and recharge her batteries for the upcoming season.

In an interview with Tribuna media, the 23-year-old player discussed her new perspective on tennis after a mixed season that nevertheless allowed her to remain in the top 30.

"To be honest, I've never felt this physically fresh at the end of a season since the beginning of my career. I've always worked until exhaustion. But now I understand that won't be the case anymore.

Our career (that of tennis players) is quite short, so we need to live it with pleasure, have a good time, rather than suffer while waiting for everything to end. I love my current way of playing, my mindset, and the enjoyment I get from doing my job," Kostyuk stated in recent hours.
