"I've been slowly getting back into training to protect my arm," Draper shares an update ahead of the US Open
Injured in his left arm since Wimbledon, Draper had to skip the American tour. While his participation in the US Open seemed uncertain, the British player has now confirmed his presence at the year's final Grand Slam, detailing his return-to-competition process.
"The doctors and my team advised me to take some time off, so I had a few days of rest. I relaxed and forgot about tennis. I felt really motivated to come back and follow a great physical training program, working hard to achieve good results.
I’ve been easing back into training to protect my arm, but these past few weeks have been really productive. I was disappointed to miss Toronto and Cincinnati, but I think it was a good time to reflect on certain things and improve. I’m looking forward to the US Open—I feel good both personally and tennis-wise. I feel refreshed, motivated, and eager to get back on the court."
Last year, the 23-year-old reached his first semifinal at Flushing Meadows, where he was stopped by the eventual champion, Sinner (7-5, 7-6, 6-2).
