Jacquemot Joins Boisson in the Third Round, a Frenchwoman Advances to Roland-Garros Second Week

Elsa Jacquemot gave herself a scare, but for the first time in her young career, she will be competing in the third round of Roland-Garros.

The 22-year-old Frenchwoman, who received a wild card, had a brilliant first-round victory over former world No. 3 Maria Sakkari. Facing Alycia Parks on Thursday, Jacquemot initially dominated, leading 6-2, 5-4, and holding three match points in her favor.

However, nerves got the better of her, and minutes later, after a tense tiebreak, Parks miraculously claimed the second set. Fortunately for Jacquemot, buoyed by the supportive crowd on Court 14, the third set quickly swung in her favor. After a two-hour battle, she emerged victorious with a score of 6-2, 6-7, 6-1.

In the third round, she will face her compatriot Loïs Boisson. This matchup guarantees a Frenchwoman in the round of 16 for the second consecutive year.
