This Wednesday, the round of 16 kicked off at the WTA 125 tournament in Saint-Malo. Four matches took place in Ille-et-Vilaine, featuring four French players with mixed results.
On the positive side, Léolia Jeanjean and Elsa Jacquemot secured their spots in the quarterfinals. Jeanjean defeated fourth seed and world No. 71 Caroline Dolehide in three sets (6-3, 1-6, 6-1).
She will now face either Fiona Ferro or Emeline Dartron, who play their match on Thursday, for a chance to reach the semifinals. Another French player advancing to the quarters is Elsa Jacquemot.
The 21-year-old also delivered a strong performance against a top-100 opponent, eliminating Olivia Gadecki (WTA No. 91, 6-2, 7-5). Jacquemot will take on either Naomi Osaka or Diane Parry as she aims to reach her third semifinal of 2025.
However, the tournament came to an end for Chloé Paquet and Tiantsoa Rakotomanga Rajaonah. The former fell to Viktorija Golubic (3-6, 6-1, 6-3), who will now face top seed McCartney Kessler in the quarterfinals after Kessler defeated Rakotomanga (7-6, 6-1). The American and the Swiss will battle for a spot in the final four.
