Jeanjean, Last French Player in Contention in Montreal, Defeated by Lys in First Round
Léolia Jeanjean was the last French representative in Montreal.
Having come through the qualifiers, she faced Eva Lys in the main draw. She lost 6-1, 6-4 to the German, ranked 69th in the world, despite having an early break in the second set.
Following the eliminations of Varvara Gracheva and Elsa Jacquemot yesterday, there are now no French players left in the Canadian tournament. As a reminder, Loïs Boisson, France's top-ranked WTA player, withdrew due to a left adductor injury.
