Jeanjean qualifies for the quarters, Mladenovic eliminated in Florianopolis
Léolia Jeanjean continues on her way to Brazil. At the Florianopolis tournament, the 29-year-old brilliantly beat Nina Stojanovic (6-1, 6-1) to reach the quarter-finals.
The Serbian is back to her best after several years of doubt due to repeated injuries, and had just triumphed in Colina two weeks earlier.
For a place in the last four, Jeanjean will face Ukrainian player Valeriya Strakhova (ranked 268th in the world).
By contrast, Kristina Mladenovic's adventure is over.
Up against Maria Carle (seeded n°1), the Frenchwoman got off to the best possible start before the Argentine finally found the solution to win (4-6, 6-2, 6-1). She will meet either Kawa or Pigossi in the quarter-finals.
