Mladenovic and Jeanjean qualify for second round in Florianopolis
A successful start for the two French players in the Florianopolis draw.
Kristina Mladenovic struggled against Emiliana Arango, but came out on top (7-6, 6-7, 6-1) after a 3-hour battle.
In the second round, she will face either Maria Carle (seeded n°1 in Brazil) or Mariia Tkacheva.
For her part, Léolia Jeanjean didn't waver against Daria Lodikova (6-1, 7-6).
In the second round, she will meet the returning Nina Stojanovic, who just won the WTA 125 in Colina, Chile, two weeks ago.
The Serb, who was ranked 81st in the world in March 2020, is trying to get back to her best and is currently 261st in the WTA rankings.
