Kerber, retired since the Olympics, to work for the German Tennis Federation
Angelique Kerber didn't stay away from the world of tennis for very long.
The German player, winner of three Grand Slam titles in her career at the Australian Open 2016, US Open 2016 and Wimbledon 2018, retired after the Paris Olympics this summer.
From 2025, the 36-year-old former world number 1 will take on a new role within the German Tennis Federation.
She will be an advisor to all German players representing Germany at the Billie Jean King Cup.
She will work alongside her former coach Rainer Schüttler, captain of the German team at the BJK Cup.
"I'm grateful for everything tennis has given me, and I want to pass on my experience to the next generation.
We have a common goal of bringing German tennis back to the top," said Kerber after her appointment.
"The involvement of former top players in the Federation's work is an important pillar in the field of youth and competitive sport.
The fact that we have succeeded in recruiting Angelique Kerber, one of Germany's most successful tennis players, fills us with pride and confidence.
Angie, with her fighting spirit on the court, has always been a shining example to young tennis players.
They can now benefit directly from her knowledge and experience," Veronika Rücker, a member of the DTB (German Tennis Federation) Board of Directors, told Tennis Channel.
