Keys recounts the hours that followed her title at the Australian Open: "On Thursday, I put my phone in a drawer"
Madison Keys won the first Grand Slam of her career at the Australian Open last month. But winning a Grand Slam also means being in the spotlight.
A stage that Keys said she experienced quite poorly. She explains: "Immediately after leaving the court, I went to do six live TV interviews in a row.
I hadn't even showered yet and I hadn't eaten anything. At one point I was thirsty, I hadn't had a drink in an hour.
I drank and then underwent a drug test after that. I finally took a shower, ate, and did another two hours of media.
We got back to the hotel at almost three o'clock, and of course, I couldn't sleep, I was a zombie.
I was so happy, but it was also like I hadn't breathed and absorbed everything that had happened.
Then we flew to New York, and I had a full day of press. I returned to Florida on Tuesday night.
It was a commitment that had been made before the season started. So I landed and had to go back to Florida and do other things the next day.
It was probably on Thursday night that I finally told my agent that I couldn't do it anymore. I put my phone in a drawer.
I can't talk to anyone else anymore. If anyone needs me, call Bjorn (Fratangelo, her husband). I'll talk to everyone when it's my day."
