Korda analyzes his victory over Tsitsipas and reflects on his two difficult years caused by injuries: "I had lost that inner fire"

Korda advanced to the Miami Open round of 16 by defeating Tsitsipas in straight sets (7-6, 6-3). The world No. 25 is regaining his form after challenging years marred by injuries.
The son of former player Petr Korda, Sebastián saw his progress stall due to elbow surgery in 2024, followed by a tear after the Adelaide tournament in 2025.
In an interview with Tennis Channel, the American reflected on his win against Tsitsipas:
"The game plan was very clear for both of us—there were no secrets. Tsitsipas was going to target my forehand, and I was going to attack his backhand the whole time. I didn’t start well, but I found my rhythm quickly.
I think I played a very solid match, and when I had opportunities, I went all in. That was the key today.
I took more risks than him, came to the net more, and was more aggressive. I’m happy with how it turned out."
The 24-year-old also spoke about the struggles he faced over the past two seasons:
"I spent a lot of time sidelined due to injuries. I realized I had lost that inner fire in many matches.
So beating a top-10 player means a lot to me, especially here in Miami, which is one of my favorite places to play.
I was at a good level in Adelaide, but after that, I suffered a small tear, which wasn’t ideal. My biggest goal is to stay healthy again.
That’s something I want to achieve because the last two years have been tough in that regard."
Korda will face Monfils in the round of 16.
