A finalist in 2024, Dimitrov is currently performing well in the 2025 edition of the Miami Masters 1000.

Having secured a spot in the round of 16, the Bulgarian defeated Khachanov in the previous round (6-7, 6-4, 7-5).

In an interview with Tennis Channel, the 33-year-old player reflected on the challenges of the one-handed backhand:

"I’ve always played with a single pattern because I have a one-handed backhand. I’m used to dealing with that difference.

A tennis player always has to adapt and adjust different things, so I completely understand players who bet on making changes at some point in their careers.

Players always tend to seek improvement, to explore something new. My string pattern has been 18-18 for a long time.

I’m a player who needs to have that constant feel between the ball and the racket, so that’s what works for me."

Regarding the points he’s defending in Miami, the world No. 15 explained his perspective on the matter:

"For my part, I decided a long time ago not to pay much attention to these things. I prefer to focus on my game and take it day by day with more freedom.

I couldn’t care less if I lose points—what interests me is how I feel on the court. If I compare those two feelings, the one that truly matters to me is the second."

Dimitrov will face Nakashima in the round of 16.

As we move to the end of this month and also closing out the year I am wishing all of those following me a Merry Christmas and a Happy/Healthy New Year.

Let's make that wish for all 2000 plus players hoping for 5 wins each day. Hoping ŵhen we open the results page to see all green, and no red. And especially NO CANCELED matches.

From me and my rotti JAZ, I bid you all good night, and see you in...

why did tennis tonic void predictions on the match between Chwalinska and Huergo at the Quito tournament? The match was played to completion and on time. If TT feels the match is one sided, and of course it was, then don't put it up for prediction. This is getting irritating.

The finals are here, and we scramble for the best finish. I've been chasing "King" all year and I was able to shrink the spread a little. Skelp is also closing the gap.

Seasons best to all the regulars in our league.

Will you all be back in the new year.?

Steffi Graf completed a Golden Slam (not just a career Grand Slam) when she was 19. She is the only person to accomplish that, winning the four majors plus Olympic gold the same calendar year.
