Kyrgios: "I'd like the players to be equipped with a microphone".
In his lengthy interview with the Australian Open website, Nick Kyrgios touched on a wide range of subjects, not least the appeal of tennis and how to make it even more visible.
Taking his cue from the NBA, Kyrgios put forward a rather surprising proposal, suggesting that players be fitted with microphones: "I'd like players to be fitted with microphones. Look at the NBA, they put a microphone inside the jersey around the collar, so you can't feel it. Not doing it (in tennis) seems absurd to me. Why not put a microphone on Novak or Alcaraz to hear what they're saying?
Some of these extraordinary athletes - I do it myself sometimes - talk to themselves before important points. The content you could create from that would encourage tennis fans to stay glued to their phones."
