Mahut to Retire at the End of the 2025 Season
At 43 years old, Nicolas Mahut is set to return to the doubles circuit alongside Pierre-Hugues Herbert. The iconic duo will reunite at the Bordeaux Challenger and then at Roland-Garros.
Now working as a consultant for Eurosport, the Angers native has not played a professional tournament since Wimbledon last summer. Is this a final dance? The man himself has officially ended the speculation in recent hours, confirming that Mahut is indeed playing his final season on the tour.
A four-time singles title winner, the Frenchman will go down in history for playing the longest singles match ever (11 hours and 5 minutes) against John Isner in the first round of Wimbledon in 2010, losing 70-68 in an unforgettable fifth set.
In terms of achievements, Nicolas Mahut truly shined in doubles, winning five Grand Slam titles, two ATP Finals, the Davis Cup in 2017, and reaching the world No. 1 ranking.
Turning professional in 2000, Mahut will retire with 41 titles (combined singles and doubles) and several notable doubles partners, including Julien Benneteau, Pierre-Hugues Herbert, Arnaud Clément, Edouard Roger-Vasselin, and Canadian player Vasek Pospisil.
