Mannarino, Mayot, and Herbert Out, No French Players Left in Rome Qualifying
No French player managed to advance past the first round of qualifying for the Rome Masters 1000.
Adrian Mannarino was the first to fall, losing to Carlos Taberner after a rather improbable scoreline of 6-1, 0-6, 6-0. Next up, Harold Mayot was the second Frenchman to take the court. Unfortunately, fate was the same for the world No. 144, who was defeated by Jesper De Jong in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4.
Finally, Pierre-Hugues Herbert, who has never played in the main draw in Rome, conceded defeat to Juan Manuel Cerundolo (6-3, 7-6). The Argentinian recently reached the third round in Madrid before losing to Daniil Medvedev.
