Mannarino reaches Newport final and makes his return to the top 100
After an extremely difficult first half of the season, Adrian Mannarino has regained his form since Wimbledon.
The 37-year-old Frenchman reached the third round after battling through qualifying, only to be defeated by Andrey Rublev. Buoyed by this strong performance on the London grass, he flew to the United States this week to compete in the Newport Challenger.
In the semifinals on Saturday, Mannarino faced his compatriot Antoine Ghibaudo, ranked 601st in the world and a qualifier. The more experienced of the two players prevailed, winning 6-2, 7-5. Thanks to this final qualification, Mannarino returns to the top 100, currently sitting at 97th in the live rankings.
He will face Zachary Svajda or Eliot Spizzirri in the final tomorrow. Two years ago, he won this tournament when it was part of the ATP 250 category.
