Medvedev: "Against Sinner, I'll try to draw inspiration from Wimbledon".
Daniil Medvedev takes on Jannik Sinner this Wednesday in a bid to reach the US Open semi-finals. The Russian knows he'll have to play a near-perfect match if he's to beat the Italian. To achieve this, he will need the confidence of having won their last meeting, in July on the grass of Wimbledon.
Daniil Medvedev:
"I'll try to draw more inspiration from Wimbledon (victory over Sinner in 5 sets in the quarters) than from the Australian Open (defeat in 5 sets in the final). But with Jannik, we've only had difficult matches, with the exception of a few. I mean, in Miami (Sinner won 6-1, 6-2), for example.
But I have the impression that, in a way, we know each other's games, what we're going to try to bring to the table. And then it's always about those key moments, picking a break point, trying to surprise him or not, knowing what he's going to do, what I'm going to do. I hope we'll play a great match.
I know that if I want to beat him, I have to be at my best, which I've managed to do several times. And it's going to be a great match."
