De Minaur: "These matches are made to be won".
Forced to withdraw from Wimbledon, Alex De Minaur has made a top-class return to competition.
Very solid, the Australian wasted no time in rediscovering his best tennis, stringing together a string of victories to claim his third consecutive Grand Slam quarter-final this season.
Facing Draper, De Minaur knows he's the favorite, but wants to remain cautious: "I think the most important thing we have to understand is that there's no such thing as a sure thing in tennis.
It doesn't matter how many times you've played and won against someone (the Australian leads 3-0 in head-to-heads). It doesn't mean much.
Jack is coming off his best year by far. He's playing with a lot of confidence. He's got great weapons: his serve, his backhand and sometimes his forehand.
So it's always difficult to play someone like him, especially a left-hander. I've had some success against him in the past.
I'm going to try and draw inspiration from that, from what I've been able to do in this kind of match. Besides, it's a Grand Slam quarter-final.
I'm going to take to the court, give it my all and compete, and these matches are made to be won.
You can't win them by being passive. So I'm looking forward to this opportunity and I can't wait to play this match."
