Medvedev to continue working with Simon in 2025
Daniil Medvedev, eliminated from the Masters in the group stages, has announced his plans for next season in a little more detail.
The Russian, who will be overtaken in the rankings by Taylor Fritz, will start the season ranked 5th in the world. Although he will be remembered for his remarks on balls in 2024, he hasn't won a title since May 2023.
His collaboration with Gilles Simon, which began in February at the Dubai tournament, has so far failed to make a difference.
But Medvedev confirmed to Russian media outlet Kommersant that the two men will continue to work together in 2025: "It's been a difficult year. Because of the Olympics, we had less time to work on certain aspects in training. So it was difficult for Simon to make a significant contribution to my preparation.
He tried to do so at the Grand Slam tournaments, but nothing could be changed overall. We got to know each other better. We're going to try and have a thorough preparation during the preseason and see what happens.
I'm not going to go into details, but I have an idea to improve my game with the current balls. It's not certain that it will work. But I've got to find a way to beat Sinner, against whom I've lost a lot in recent months."
