Mensik withdraws from Next Gen ATP Finals

Two consecutive withdrawals shake up the Next Gen ATP Finals: after Joao Fonseca, it's Jakub Mensik who has to pull out due to medical reasons. A big blow for the tournament, which now sees Learner Tien become the highest-ranked player in the draw.

The Next Gen ATP Finals have lost another headline act. Following the confirmed withdrawal of Joao Fonseca, it is now Jakub Mensik who has pulled out of the tournament.

On its X account, the competition organisers stated: "Jakub Mensik has withdrawn from the 2025 Next Gen ATP Finals presented by PIF due to medical reasons. We wish Jakub a speedy recovery and good preparation for the 2026 season."

Tien as the headline act

The highest-ranked player now taking part in the Next Gen ATP Finals is Learner Tien, world number 28.

I am surprised about relatively low attendance at Roland Garros which was the most popular slam 20+ years ago. I myself love it as well as really loving aus and us opens. I don't care about Wimbledon, sometimes maybe I can watch women's tennis. I hate Wimbledon's white dress code, I feel like I am watching junior tennis...I watched very few matches like Graf davenport final in 1999 the last time.....
