Michelsen takes revenge on Van Assche and reaches the Next Gen Masters semi-finals

Last year, Alex Michelsen contested the Masters Next Gen and finished bottom of his group with three defeats, including one against Luca Van Assche.

The American, now ranked 41st in the world, took his revenge on Thursday, beating the Frenchman in four sets (1-4, 4-2, 4-3, 4-3).

After a poor start to the match, Michelsen quickly raised his game and even saved three set points in the tie-break of the third set.

Thanks to this second win in two matches, Alex Michelsen is the first player to qualify for the semi-finals of the event.

Luca Van Assche, meanwhile, will have to beat Nishesh Basavareddy tomorrow if he is to repeat his performance of last year, when he reached the last four.

I propose the following changes to the rules:

1...a walķover will not be a loss. We have no control of player's health. If he or she is entered in a contest we expect them to play.

2...an incomplete match is not a loss. If a player forfeits we pick another match if there are more to choose.

3...this also applies if TT cancels a match. TT will not take hours to decide an outcome.

It's a shame that so many matches are being canceled. TT ,you are destroying your game ,and thereby killing your app. I don't know how many matches others have had canceled , but I'm at 3 and it's only thursday.
