Millman Compares Sinner and Purcell Cases: Impartiality Must Be Demonstrated

The world number one tested positive for clostebol, a substance banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), on two occasions during the Indian Wells Masters 1000. He was handed a three-month suspension.

Max Purcell, on the other hand, received an 18-month sanction for exceeding the permitted limits of intravenous vitamin infusions. He will be eligible to compete again starting June 12, 2026.

John Millman, a fellow Australian, shared his thoughts in an interview with the *Sydney Morning Herald*:

"I find it shocking. I was one of Jannik Sinner’s biggest supporters—I defended him a lot—but we need consistency. Impartiality must be demonstrated. Are players being treated the same way? It seems like the top players are getting preferential treatment.

Athletes want a fair game, but when Jannik Sinner gets a three-month suspension for having a banned substance in his system, and Max is suspended six times longer, it’s hard not to believe the system has failed."
