Ranked 7th in the world, Mirra Andreeva has already left her mark on this year's tennis season. The 18-year-old Russian player has claimed her first two WTA 1000 titles, defeating Clara Tauson in Dubai and Aryna Sabalenka in Indian Wells.

Her list of prestigious victories in 2025 includes wins over Sabalenka, Swiatek, Rybakina, Svitolina, Jabeur, and Vondrousova. Now coached by Conchita Martinez, Andreeva continues to improve. The former Spanish professional player recently shared insights into her young protégée's ambitions.

"To play and train well, enjoyment plays a fundamental role. If you savor the moment, you feel less tired. I’m happy that Mirra (Andreeva) embraces this mindset too—that she can smile on the court, especially after a great point or a beautiful winner.

"It’s good that we have a strong connection, that there’s always a smile between us. But at the same time, we must also work seriously because we’re still in the realm of professional sports. I’m grateful for this harmony with her.

"Winning a Grand Slam is never an easy task, but with hard work, a bit of luck in the draw, and a lot of focus... why not? She’s ambitious, she wants to improve.

"Everything I bring to the table—from nutrition to the physical and mental aspects—she’s ready to take it all in. Mirra is very young, and she has her whole life ahead of her. When you coach someone older, it’s harder to change anything, even though my philosophy remains the same.

"In the end, we live to learn. I myself learn something new every day and try to figure out how to apply my methods as effectively as possible," Conchita Martinez explained to *Super Tennis*.

In the coming days, Andreeva—who just turned 18 at the end of April—will need to confirm her progress and defend the points from her Roland-Garros semifinal run last year.

why did tennis tonic void predictions on the match between Chwalinska and Huergo at the Quito tournament? The match was played to completion and on time. If TT feels the match is one sided, and of course it was, then don't put it up for prediction. This is getting irritating.

The finals are here, and we scramble for the best finish. I've been chasing "King" all year and I was able to shrink the spread a little. Skelp is also closing the gap.

Seasons best to all the regulars in our league.

Will you all be back in the new year.?

Steffi Graf completed a Golden Slam (not just a career Grand Slam) when she was 19. She is the only person to accomplish that, winning the four majors plus Olympic gold the same calendar year.

What a finish this is.. I believe King has used his boost for today. Skelp is closing strong. Two wins and he claims 1st if I lose my last prediction.

Gonna be difficult with only 2 pointers to choose from.
