Monfils after his match against Dimitrov: "We really went at it"
Gaël Monfils lost his third-round match at Indian Wells against Grigor Dimitrov in a third-set tie-break.
Despite the loss, in comments reported by L'Équipe, the Frenchman stated that he enjoyed the match.
"We really went at it. We gave it our all, as they say, with some incredible points. It went his way, but it was great to play.
It's for matches like this that playing is so much fun.
You want the win, of course, but beyond that, if you look at the match from a bit of a distance, it was really great.
I gave it everything. So, no, I have no regrets.
But when I left the court, I told myself that I didn't adapt well to the situation. I wasn't stressed.
I feel tired, but I also have some minor issues here and there that I'm managing with the physio, so we'll try to work on that to be in good shape in a week in Miami.
Anyway, tomorrow (Wednesday) my wife (Elina Svitolina) is playing, so I hope to stay here as long as possible for her, and depending on how she does, I'll adjust my recovery and training schedule.
Tomorrow, I can tell you that I won't be hitting any balls, I'll be resting."
