Monfils: "I have a tear in my thigh. I'll go to Doha and see what happens".
Gaël Monfils, who has made a very good start to the 2025 season, was forced to withdraw from the ATP 250 in Marseille.
Disappointed not to be playing in France, Monfils explained his withdrawal in a press conference: "It's always the same thing.
I withdrew from the Australian Open because I hurt my thigh.
I've already talked about it, I've got a tear in my thigh. So I still can't play. I've resumed physical training and I hit the ball for the first time last Friday.
I hope to be available soon. I'll go to tournaments when I'm feeling well. Whatever happens, I'll go to Doha, and if I feel I can play, I'll play.
If not, I'll start again in Dubai. The first one to be disappointed is me.
I was playing very well, I was on a good run and now I'm at a standstill. It's nothing serious, but an injury now means the end of your career."
