Moutet qualifies in pain!
There will be at least one Frenchman in the 2nd round of the Olympic Games.
Corentin Moutet, who had secured his ticket to the Olympics thanks to a brilliant second-week performance at Roland Garros, made a successful start to the Games on Sunday.
Against Sumit Nagal, the Frenchman looked tense for a long time, alternating between good sequences and surprising errors. Moutet needed almost 2h30 of battle to finally win (6-2, 2-6, 7-5).
Without playing his best tennis, the elusive left-hander has done his job and will definitely be in the second round. It's a great opportunity for the 25-year-old, as Alex De Minaur's withdrawal has opened up the draw slightly.
For a place in the last 16, he will face Jan-Lenard Struff, the logical winner over Francisco Cabral (6-2, 6-2).
