Muchova with a record number of games lost to reach the US Open quarterfinals

Karolina Muchova has qualified for the US Open quarterfinals and will face Naomi Osaka in an attempt to advance to the semifinals.

The Czech player had a turbulent journey, making her the player with the most games lost to reach the quarterfinals in the Open Era at the US Open.

With 53 games lost, she matches the performance of Sylvia Hanika in 1979 in New York. Muchova played 4 matches, all won in three sets.
