Stats: 8 Former Grand Slam Finalists in a Major Quarterfinal, a First in 44 Years

For the first time in 44 years, eight former Grand Slam finalists have qualified for the quarterfinals of a Major.

A historic statistic, as this hasn't happened in a long time. Indeed, one must go back to the Wimbledon editions of 1981 and 1976 to see such a situation occur.

As a result, the women's quarterfinal matchups are as follows:

– Sabalenka (6 finals) vs Vondrousova (2 finals)

– Pegula (1 final) vs Krejcikova (2 finals)

– Swiatek (6 finals) vs Anisimova (1 final)

– Muchova (1 final) vs Osaka (4 finals)

The first two will take place today: the first opening on Arthur Ashe Stadium (starting at 5:30 PM, French time) and the second in the third rotation (starting at 1:00 AM, French time).
