"I'm trying to give myself every chance," Muchova reacts to qualifying for the US Open quarterfinals

Karolina Muchova has had to fight in every round of this 2025 US Open. The Czech player, ranked 13th in the world, eliminated Venus Williams (6-3, 2-6, 6-1), Sorana Cirstea (7-6, 6-7, 6-4), Linda Noskova (6-7, 6-4, 6-2), and Marta Kostyuk (6-3, 6-7, 6-3) last night in the round of 16.
After her victory and before facing Naomi Osaka for a spot in the semifinals, the 29-year-old Muchova discussed her win against the Ukrainian player after nearly three hours of battle on the Grandstand Stadium.
"It was a big, long battle. Marta (Kostyuk) played very well. It's tough to face her because she's a very athletic player. There were moments where I felt like she was everywhere.
I'm happy that I reacted very well in the third set, just like I did in the previous matches. I focused on what I had to do and was a bit more aggressive toward the end of the match.
I think that's what made the difference in the third set. I don't like losing, so you always have to do everything you can to win. Once I'm on the court, I try to give myself every chance," stated the Czech player, who then discussed her upcoming opponent.
"Naomi (Osaka) is a great player, she's regained her form and is improving every day, as her recent results show. The difference is that right now, she has a lot of matches under her belt.
She's won a lot more matches than I have lately. She probably has more confidence in herself and her shots. It's definitely going to be very tough. I expect another big battle. It's certainly going to be a huge challenge for me," Muchova analyzed for Punto de Break.
