Worn out by his title-winning performance in Hong Kong, Alexandre Müller has decided not to compete in Auckland.
With the Australian Open to be played the following week, the Frenchman no doubt preferred a rest to ensure he was in good physical shape going into the first Grand Slam of the year.
Pablo Carreno Busta, despite losing out in the first round of qualifying, has been drafted in and will face Jakub Mensik.
This is due to the large number of withdrawals, with all losers in the final qualifying round having already been drafted.
