Murray makes an appearance at Queen’s to inaugurate the Andy Murray Arena
The women's edition of Queen's, held for the first time in 52 years, began this Monday with a novelty.
The center court indeed has a new name, as it is now called the Andy Murray Arena. This is a way to honor Murray, former world No. 1 and three-time Grand Slam winner, who has won the prestigious London tournament four times (2009, 2011, 2015, and 2016).
He appeared on the court to perform the coin toss for the match between Petra Kvitova and Beatriz Haddad Maia. History will remember that the Brazilian became the first player to win a match on the Andy Murray Arena by defeating Kvitova in three sets (2-6, 6-4, 6-4).
