Murray, the genial finishing touch: "I never liked tennis anyway".
Andy Murray played the last match of his tennis career on the clay courts of Roland-Garros on Thursday. Paired with compatriot Daniel Evans, the Briton was beaten by the American pair Taylor Fritz/Tommy Paul (6-4, 6-2) in the quarter-finals of the Olympic Games.
Obviously very emotional after the match and in his press conference statements (see below), the former world No.1 ended on a particularly mischievous humorous note, a few hours later, by posting on his X account a brilliant "Never liked tennis anyway".
Andy Murray (in a press conference): "I'm proud of my career, my achievements and what I've brought to the sport.
It's obviously very emotional because it's the last time I'll play a competitive match. But I'm really happy right now. I'm happy with the way it ended.
I'm happy that I was able to compete in the Olympics and finish on my terms, because at times over the last few years, it wasn't certain (that he could do it that way)."
