Murray won't be playing Wimbledon - hope was short-lived!

We knew Andy Murray was a stubborn sort. Unfortunately, the Scotsman had to face the facts and make official the news that many of his followers had been dreading: he won't be playing Wimbledon.

The author of a very average 2024 season, he was forced to retire with a back injury in the last 16 of the Queen's tournament (against Thompson, 4-1 ab.) a few days ago. Not giving up hope, the former world number 1 decided to undergo surgery to be ready for the London Grand Slam.

In the end, the gamble was already lost for Murray, who, despite being desperate to play in front of his home crowd, will not be able to fulfill his wish. His body simply won't allow it.

We can only hope that he can get back on his feet by the time of the Olympic Games, the other major objective of his season.

In any case, the question remains: will he ever play again at Wimbledon, or has this back injury just deprived him of a farewell, on court, to his fans?
