Murray's miraculous comeback postpones retirement
Andy Murray is playing in the very last tournament of his career at the Paris Olympic Games. Involved only in the men's doubles, alongside Daniel Evans, he came very, very close to retirement on Sunday.
It looked like a foregone conclusion on the clay court of Court Suzanne Lenglen. The two team-mates were in trouble in the first round, when the Japanese pair of Kei Nishikori and Taro Daniel came within a point of victory.
But, trailing 9-4 in the tie-break match (which replaces the 3rd set), the British pulled off a miraculous turnaround. They scored 7 consecutive points to save the 5 match points and win 11 points to 9. Insane!
The retirement bell has not yet rung for Murray, and the adventure continues with Evans. In the second round, they will face Frenchmen Arthur Fils and Ugo Humbert or Belgians Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen.
