Musetti ends Mpetshi Perricard's Wimbledon adventure!
Early on Monday afternoon, Lorenzo Musetti qualified for the quarter-finals of the 2024 edition of Wimbledon. To do so, he put an end to Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard's dream run, winning in two hours and four sets (4-6, 6-3, 6-3, 6-2).
Initially dominated, the Italian gradually managed to neutralize the power of his immense opponent (203 cm / 6'8"), forcing him to play longer points to engage in physical combat. He was also very good on his return of serve, depriving the young Frenchman, who is celebrating his 21st birthday today, of the solution he was hoping for.
In the quarters, Musetti will face the winner of the match between Taylor Fritz and Alexander Zverev, to be played later today on Centre Court.
