Musetti Secures Second Consecutive Masters 1000 Semifinal
After reaching the final in Monte-Carlo, Lorenzo Musetti continues his strong run in Madrid with another semifinal. The world No. 11 comfortably defeated lucky loser Gabriel Diallo with a score of 6-4, 6-3.
Following solid wins over Alex De Minaur last night and Tsitsipas in the third round, the Italian once again showcased his resilience. Diallo started well, securing an early break (4-2 in the first set), but he soon faltered, committing far too many unforced errors (37 in total) to sustain his challenge.
Having not dropped a single set since the start of the tournament, Musetti will now face Jack Draper in the semifinals. Additionally, he is set to break into the Top 10 on Monday, virtually claiming the No. 8 spot in the ATP rankings.
