Lorenzo Musetti has been honoured by an Italian media outlet. Currently ranked 8th in the world, the 23-year-old player has been named the Italian Athlete of the Year 2025 by La Gazzetta dello Sport.

A semi-finalist at Roland Garros, Madrid, and Rome, Musetti also reached the final at the Monte-Carlo Masters 1000. This consistency allowed him to qualify for the ATP Finals in Turin for the first time in his career.

Musetti succeeds Sinner in the honours

Despite his elimination in the group stage, the Carrare native confirmed his progress. He will certainly be one of the players to watch in 2026 if he avoids injuries, which has sometimes been an issue this season.

Musetti succeeds another tennis player, Jannik Sinner, who received this honour last year. The current world number 2 could also have claimed this award, having won the Australian Open, Wimbledon, Beijing, Vienna, the Paris Masters 1000, and the ATP Finals.

Hello I'm new

I am surprised about relatively low attendance at Roland Garros which was the most popular slam 20+ years ago. I myself love it as well as really loving aus and us opens. I don't care about Wimbledon, sometimes maybe I can watch women's tennis. I hate Wimbledon's white dress code, I feel like I am watching junior tennis...I watched very few matches like Graf davenport final in 1999 the last time.....
