Musetti withdraws from Rio de Janeiro ATP 500 tournament

Lorenzo Musetti was unable to recover in time. Injuring his right leg in his second round match against Corentin Moutet in Buenos Aires, the Italian, ranked 17th in the world, immediately announced his withdrawal from the rest of the tournament.
As a result, he was unable to take his place in the quarter-final against Pedro Martinez.
Seeded number 2 at this week's ATP 500 tournament in Rio de Janeiro, the Wimbledon 2024 semi-finalist announced his withdrawal from Brazil in a message posted on Instagram.
"Unfortunately, I have to inform you that I will not be able to participate in the Rio tournament. The medical examinations carried out this morning have confirmed that my injury sustained in Buenos Aires is still present.
I'm particularly sorry to have taken this decision, especially as I love playing in Brazil, especially in Rio," he wrote on the social network.
Chilean qualifier Tomas Barrios Vera, who was due to face Musetti in the first round, will now face Portuguese lucky loser Jaime Faria, ranked 107th in the world, who was beaten by Juan Manuel Cerundolo in the final round of qualifying.
