My goal has always been to be number 1, and Agassi can help me," says Rune
Holger Rune is making his return to competition this week in Washington, after being eliminated in the first round at Wimbledon by Nicolás Jarry despite leading 2 sets to 0.
The Dane arrives in the American capital with a new addition: Andre Agassi joining his team.
For him, Agassi's presence could help him take a step forward in his goal of one day becoming world number one.
Speaking to Tennis.com, he said: "I reached out to him a few months ago. I realized he’s a very intelligent person and has a unique, authentic way of interpreting the game.
I think this is the perfect time to start working with him because I’m comfortable with my tennis; I’ve gone back to my fundamentals.
I’ve changed quite a few coaches lately, and that’s not a good sign—I stopped following a single structure. Andre is a true icon, and I think he can guide me wisely.
Some players can reach the top 20, even the top 10, without too much effort, but they tend to settle for that.
But my goal has always been to become world number 1, and I believe I can get there. To achieve it, I have to do things differently, and that’s why Agassi can help me.
