Navarro, Svitolina, Sakkari: Today's Schedule at the WTA 500 Tournament in Bad Homburg

The final of the WTA 500 tournament in Berlin will take place this Sunday between Marketa Vondrousova and Wang Xinyu. One week before the start of Wimbledon, the pace is set to intensify on the grass courts.
Still in Germany, the WTA 500 tournament in Bad Homburg kicks off this Sunday with four first-round matches. The day will begin at 11:30 AM on the center court with the clash between Yulia Putintseva and Maria Sakkari.
Shortly after, Emma Navarro will face Marta Kostyuk, a week after their encounter at the same stage of the competition in the German capital. The American will aim to defeat the Ukrainian for the fourth time in as many meetings.
Later, not before 4:00 PM, Leylah Fernandez will take on Tatjana Maria, who triumphed at Queen’s last week at the age of 37. Finally, a high-profile match will close the day between Elina Svitolina, making her 2025 grass-court debut two weeks after her Roland-Garros quarterfinal loss to Iga Swiatek, and Elise Mertens.
The Belgian claimed victory in 's-Hertogenbosch last weekend, having saved eleven match points against Alexandrova in the semifinals. In the final, she defeated Elena-Gabriela Ruse in straight sets.
It’s worth noting that the second round of qualifying will also take place on the outer courts. Olga Danilovic and Yuliia Starodubtseva will battle for a spot in the main draw, as will Veronika Kudermetova and Victoria Azarenka at the same time late in the morning.
The last two matches will pit Eva Lys against Ajla Tomljanovic, followed by Ashlyn Krueger versus Katerina Siniakova in the early afternoon, to determine the qualifiers for the main draw.
