Norman on Wawrinka: "He always wants to beat the best players".

Le 18/02/2025 à 07h41 par Clément Gehl
Norman on Wawrinka: He always wants to beat the best players.

At 39 years and 11 months, Stan Wawrinka is the oldest player in the ATP top 1000.

Despite a ranking far from his expectations, the Swiss is more motivated than ever and still feels competitive.

Magnus Norman, the Swiss's long-time coach, confirms this motivation and good form.

Speaking to The Sit Down podcast, he says: "He loves tennis, it's his passion, he loves going out on court and training, and you can really feel it.

Just this morning, we were on court for an hour and a half together and I still enjoy it as much as in the early years, and so does he. That's the love of the game.

I think he feels that he's still competitive and that he still has the will to beat one of the best players, if he's having a good day.

In 2024, he was a little late. But now, I have the impression that he's back.

In the last few weeks of last season, he was back in very good shape.

I have the impression that he's better prepared for 2025 than 2024. So we'll see."
