"One day it's okay, the next it gets worse," Muchova concerned about her left wrist

Karolina Muchova made her return to competition at Roland-Garros. After two months away, the Czech player, ranked 13th in the world, was defeated in the first round on the Parisian clay by Alycia Parks (6-3, 2-6, 6-1).
In this match, she couldn’t execute her usual two-handed backhand due to her still-painful left wrist, which prevents her from performing at 100% of her physical capacity.
The 28-year-old player had lost in the third round of the WTA 1000 in Indian Wells to Elina Svitolina but hadn’t appeared in an official tournament since then, arriving in Paris without any preparation tournaments on clay.
However, the condition of the 2023 Roland-Garros finalist’s wrist has not improved, as she herself stated in a press conference after her elimination at Porte d’Auteuil.
"I wanted to play here, I was waiting to see if my wrist would get better. One day it's okay, the next it gets worse. I didn’t know if I’d be able to hit my two-handed backhand. Unfortunately, in recent days, the injury has been very painful, and I couldn’t do it.
Still, I thought I had a chance in this match. But against this opponent, my game just didn’t click. She served well, she played fast. It was tough. On top of that, I step onto the court and I don’t have a backhand. Before the match, I still had confidence in what I could do, but I just couldn’t manage. I’m sorry, I’m still trying to find a way. But it sucks...
I’ve reached a point where I can’t play at my best level anymore. I’ll try to find a solution to get my normal backhand back this season. But honestly, I can’t say right now whether I’ll play or not.
I’ll try to give 150% and hope to be able to hit my backhand normally very soon," Muchova told Sport.cz in recent hours.
