One-sided quarterfinals in Seoul: Swiatek merciless against Krejcikova, Alexandrova holds her ground

The rain didn't stop the show in Seoul, where Iga Swiatek dominated her match with an impressive 6-0, 6-3. But the competition is heating up: Maya Joint, Ekaterina Alexandrova, and Katerina Siniakova are ready to cause an upset.
Due to rain, all quarterfinals of the WTA 500 tournament in Seoul took place this Saturday. Weather conditions were favorable unlike the previous day, and we now know the lineup for the semifinals that will take place later today. Tournament favorite Iga Swiatek won the showdown of the day against Barbora Krejcikova.
Superior from start to finish, Swiatek, who won the first eight games of the match, was in control and took the win in straight sets (6-0, 6-3 in 1h24). After a victory against Sorana Cirstea, the Polish player advanced to the last four where she will meet Maya Joint.
The Australian put on a strong performance against Clara Tauson, the third seed (6-0, 6-3 in 1h12). Trailing 3-1 in the second set, the world number 46 then won the last five games.
Without much noise, Ekaterina Alexandrova is progressing in this South Korean tournament. Against Ella Seidel, the world number 11 and second seed, always led the match and didn't linger (6-2, 6-3 in 1h16).
While the German can console herself knowing she'll make her top 100 debut next week, the Russian advances to the semifinals where she'll face Katerina Siniakova.
The Czech player, coming from the qualifiers, confirmed her win against defending finalist Daria Kasatkina in the previous round. The 29-year-old, ranked 77th in the world, dominated Suzan Lamens (6-1, 7-5) and still hasn't lost a set since the beginning of the week, including qualifiers.
She will now have to face Alexandrova, one of the in-form players of the season, in the evening after a few hours of rest to try to compete in her very first WTA 500 single final.
