Opelka Claims He Was Threatened by ATP Following His Participation in Lawsuit Against Tennis Authorities
In March, the PTPA (Professional Tennis Players Association), the players' union, filed a lawsuit against tennis governing bodies.
They notably denounced violations of labor rights, image rights, and artificial caps on prize money.
Among the signatories is Reilly Opelka. Due to his involvement, the American claims he was threatened by an anonymous player allegedly sent by Andrea Gaudenzi, the ATP chairman.
He was reportedly warned that if he did not withdraw his name from the case, there would be financial repercussions for him, including millions in legal fees.
The alleged threat occurred while he was cycling in the locker room during the Miami tournament.
