Ostapenko crushes Jabeur to reach Doha semi-finals
Jelena Ostapenko continues her fine week in Qatar, having crushed Ons Jabeur in the quarter-finals (6-2, 6-2) of the WTA 1000 in Doha on Thursday.
In full confidence with her tennis this week, after struggling in singles at the start of the season, the Latvian got off to a flying start, concluding the first set after three successful breaks and just 35 minutes of play.
Aggressive as ever, with a string of forehand and backhand winners, Ostapenko kept up the momentum in the second set and gave Jabeur no chance of getting back into the match.
Already a finalist in Doha in 2016, and semi-finalist in 2022, the 37th-ranked player in the world now reaches the last four of the Qatari tournament for the third time in her career.
Tomorrow, she takes on Iga Swiatek in what promises to be a spectacular match.
