Swiatek eliminates Rybakina to reach semi-finals

The remake of last year's final in Doha produced the same result: Iga Swiatek defeated Elena Rybakina.

After a one-sided first set won 6-2 by the Pole, Rybakina rallied to break early in the second set.

Unfortunately for her, she returned the break. Just as she was serving to stay in the match at 6-5, she failed to hold her serve, losing match point on a double fault.

Swiatek now qualifies for her 13th semi-final in the last 15 WTA 1000 tournaments she has played.

She will meet the winner of the match between Ons Jabeur and Jelena Ostapenko. In a post-match interview, she declared: "I'm very happy and proud of myself.

It's never easy to play against Rybakina. I felt that in the second set she raised her game.

I'm very happy that I managed to break her in the second set.

Jabeur and Ostapenko have totally different games. Jelena plays very fast, you can't even see the ball go through.

Jabeur is very complete and very motivated here in Doha."

why did tennis tonic void predictions on the match between Chwalinska and Huergo at the Quito tournament? The match was played to completion and on time. If TT feels the match is one sided, and of course it was, then don't put it up for prediction. This is getting irritating.
